Digital Technology Matariki Project - Bluebots and QR codes

For Matariki we learnt about the stars. We made a special Bluebot mat. On the mat we had QR codes and when you scanned them you learnt about the stars. The kids had to code the Bluebots to get to the QR codes.

Maui's Journey Around NZ

Success Criteria: watch the story of ‘Māui’s arrival in Maitahi/Mahitahi’ and discuss as a class what we learnt in this story. An important part of learning about a language and

culture is to get to know the stories that belong to

that culture. This week listen to the story, ‘How Mauī

Came to Maitahi - Bruce Bay.’ It is also Matariki at the

moment and part of Matariki is to take time to tell and

listen to stories.

T-Shaped Reading Unit- Journeys

Write answers to these questions after you have read each text.

	What kind of journey has taken place? Explain.	What was the purpose of this journey?	What challenges did the character face?
Kensuke’s Kingdom	Voyage because it’s a long journey by sea.	They wanted a new experience.They always wanted to travel around the world.	Big storms. Eating the same food. They will have to feed the dog burns
Iris and Dogstar	They went on a voyage to an island and it took over 7 days.	So they can spend quality time together and to play games and go fishing . See new things and head to Noumea.	We can't see land, The sea is rougher today, Everyone is feeling sick. The wind is going to pick up alot today.
Tautai	Trip because he goes onto a plane. To Samoa to see his grandmother.	He was going to Samoa to see his grandmother because it was her sixtieth birthday.	To go on a plane by himself. His name was hard to pronounce. He got bullied for his name.
Hime-o-te-Rangi	Trip because you are going on a plane to another place in the state.	She wanted to be the first woman to fly alone from England to New Zealand.	It was too far and too dangerous. She crashed the plane when she was training. It was hard to eat and drink when she was flying.
