Why you should swimming Persuasive Writing Structure

Why You Should Go Swimming Every year thousands of people drown because they don’t know how to swim. I am going to list 3 reasons why you should learn how to swim. Firstly, I think you should learn how to swim because it is good for your health and your muscles. It can help you get fit and helps you if someone's drowning. I think you should start swimming. Secondly, I think people should go swimming because it’s fun and you can make lots of friends. When you go swimming you can swim next to your friends from school or friend that you meet at swim club or swimming lessons. Thirdly, I believe if you saw someone drowning you can go help them because you will be a good swimmer from swim club or swimming lessons. It’s good if you help someone drowning and you might even get an award. In conclusion, I believe you should do swimming because it’s good exercise and good for your health, and could stop people from drowning. You could even be an Olympics teacher. You should go swimming because it’s fun and you can make lots of new friends.et out there and go swimming.

Toki Pounamu Film Festival

Toki Pounamu Film Festival

Today we/my class went to the film festival.
The senior classes went and the West Coast Schools.
My Favourite film was the crime report because it was
different and funny. I liked it when they were running
in slow motion. I liked the editing because it was well
done. The Crime report film was different from the
others. My favourite part was when the 2 people were
chasing the robber with their fake guns. Maybe next
time they can make the theme be whatever you want
for a subject. There were lots of cool one but I liked
the first one the best. The robber was filmed at the
Paroa School. The robber stole 2 million dollars.  It
was my first time going to the Toki Pounamu Film
Festival. Hopefully we go next year. By Ayah!!

Collaging Google Drawing

We have been learning to make a collage on Google Drawing.
We had to use the explore, mask and arrange tools to get our collage to come
together. We had to make a NZ bird and put it into its habitat. It was a lot of fun
and I am really pleased with my bird. Have you ever had a go at this?

Animation term 3

Today we were learning to do an animation on google slides. We had to use free to use images and we had to change some of the code to make it work. We had to make the animation loop by changing the word false to true inside to code. In the code I also changed the moving part to make it go faster. Enjoy my work

This is a piece of writing that we did for mini beast topic when we were learning about weta. We had to write an informant report on this insect

click here to see my Success Criteria

Amazing weta of Aotearoa

What is weta?

Weta are a native insect to NZ/Aotearoa.

Weta are invertebrates and they and have an exoskeleton. An invertebrates is
an animal that has its skeleton on the outside which is called an exoskeleton.
They have six legs. They have two antennae.  They have a thorax and
abdomen. They have ears on their legs.

Where do weta live?

Weta live in many different places.

Ground weta live in the ground. Ground weta live in burrows sometimes .
They  climb trees for food. Tree weta live in rotten trees and tree weta l
ive with other weta. Giant weta are only found in nature reserves. Giant
weta are  too big to jump. Weta may not look pretty but they are important
to Aotearoa.

What do weta eat?

Weta eat at night and Weta climb trees for food. Weta  eat plants, seeds,
little insects, snails, worms fruit, flowers, leaves but there are lots of animals
that eat weta.

Where weta live?

Tree weta lives in rotten trees, underwood and even in peoples wood

Where do weta breed?
In spring/summer the weta mate. Tree weta males may have a group of
females sharing a hole. The male has to fight off other males with his
jaws and spiked legs. Weta breed in autumn the female weta lays
about 6-10eggs at a time.

Social behaviour

Tree weta live with other Tree weta but other  types of weta live on their own.

Threats
Their biggest threats are rats, cats, moreporks, tuatara and humans.
Before  humans came the only threats to weta were here tuatara and birds.
The main way to protect weta is to protect their habitat.

Quick Write - Abandoned Places

Abandoned Places - writing

Our learning goals are to:
-write a description, using powerful words and phrases
-include some Te Reo Māori

-carefully check that our sentences make sense and have correct punctuation and spelling.

The Creepy Castle
I'm on a secret mission off to go into an abandoned
castle. I went into the castle and  it was creepy .
The ponio was playing and the fire was still going but
it was cold. But then I heard footsteps. I looked
behind me, there was a shadow and it looked like a
person. The shadow jumped from wall to wall. I was
scared so I tried to hide. There was a person and
she was hiding from the shadow.

I think the castle was made thousands of years ago. Then there was a BIG ThUMP. I opened the door and got out. I skated across the floor  and went up the stairs. I peeked around the corner. Then I found a knife which was (whero red). The knife was ancient . It looked like it was expensive.  All of a sudden slimy, gooey, toxic
slime fell from the ceiling. The walls were black. There was kiore (rats) everywhere. It was disgusting.

Suddenly an alien emerged out of the slime on the wall and he had a laser gun . I dashed out and the alien followed me. There was a wall. It was made out of concrete. Some was falling off and then the alien found me...

my noho marae tripe

The Noho marae
We went to the Noho marae trip. Room 5 and 7 went
and some of the parents,  also some of the teachers
went to the noho marae. To learn about the Māori
culture.

Afternoon rotations
 In the evening we
did the evening activities. There was soap carving, inside
games, technology challenge, weaving and other stuff.
Some
activities were very challenging. I was in soap carving,
it was
really fun. I did a koruru.  My next activity was a game
called
rat and mouse and we also did fan soccer.
Roasting Marshmallows

After

the evening rotation we roasted marshmallows. We
had two
biscuits and put the
biscuits on the marshmallows. They were really really
delicious.
You could only have
one because there was 60 of us. We listened to
two stories.
One was told by
Miss
Barrow
and the other one by Miss  Kemp. They were cool
stories. The next day We
went on a bush walk, there was icky mud and at the
end we had
morning tea.
Miss Ireland told
us a legend. There was a wasp on Porsha's
bag, so me and
Jordyn moved our bags.
Then the wasp flew
away so then Porsha could eat her banana.Thank you
parents for coming to the
noho marae trip.
It was very cool and chill. Thank you.
I enjoyed the Noho marae trip I
learnt a lot.
